AJHL scores & updates - Jan 3rd

Well, as somewhat expected with how little I've accomplished over the holidays (which hasn't been too bad honestly - besides the fact I didn't get anywhere close to caught up on anything! Haha!) - there wasn't any non-AJHL posts published as of yet. I was somehow naive enough still to believe I'd make progress on those... HA!

Oh well... whatever - they will eventually happen, that is the one thing that is certain!

Anyways, AJHL tonight... pretty late after the games which isn't too unusual for me since being away from home since the 17th, but oh well!

Scores:
  1. Canmore beat the Canucks 3-2 in OT at the Max Bell Centre in SE Calgary. Very one-sided shots for the first 2 periods from Canmore (26-9), with a one shot Canucks edge in the 3rd. Strangely no shot registered at all in OT... hmm, penalty shot or just an accidental missed shot listed? Canmore captain LW #14 Riley Point with the 'phantom' OT winner, though.
  2. Sherwood Park beat the Grizzlys 5-3 in Olds. Shots just gradually went more Olds' way by the period, but Sherwood Park's 4-1 lead after the 2nd was enough to take it. Crusaders RW #3 Stefan Bazar with a 4 point (1G, 3A) night, along with LW #18 Arthur Gordon adding 3 points (2G, 1A).

Changes:

Canmore:
*Though still listed on the Eagles AJ stats/roster as injured (Lower body injury, out indefinitely, as I had on EP), RW #29 Simon Philp played his first game of the season.
*Callup G #39 Ryan Ferguson, from Calgary Royals Midget AAA (AMHL) made his AJHL debut even starting for the Eagles - and didn't have too bad of a game either with 2 goals allowed in 63mins for the win.

Calgary Canucks:
*RD #7 Owen Johnson played last night, up from up from Calgary Buffaloes Midget AAA (AMHL).
*LD #36 Nicholas Herman also played last night, also up from Calgary Buffaloes Midget AAA (AMHL).
*#-less LD Jake Dube, now listed as AP on reserve roster. Currently with UFA Bisons Midget AAA (AMHL).
*LD #33 Curtis Lewington, back from Mononucleosis, day-to-day, though still listed as injured on Canucks AJ roster.

Sherwood Park:
*D #44 Cody Bardock, back from injury (Lower body injury, status uncertain (was to be back by November 25th)) to play last night.

Olds - no verifiable changes, though the 2 callups D #24 Cale Brown (from Mountainview Colts (HJHL)) & D/LW #26 Chaydan Lauber (from Southeast Hounds Minor Midget AAA (AMMHL)) are all but back with their main teams.

Other changes away from tonight's games:

Fort McMurray:
*As I was informed by Trevor Howlett (Fort McMurray sports reporter), Oil Barons GM/Head Coach Gord Thibodeau - whom I know I do not currently have all coaching stats for, considering he's coached over 1000 games (speaking of staff - another project to add to my endless list: try and get all the main AJHL staff listed and as up to date as possible, on EP. I just keep so busy with player stats/info that I never make it to staff), posted a Coach's Blog post yesterday updating their only 2 players I know of that are still out of the lineup:
*Currently #-less F Jordan Clark, who's yet to dress in a regular season game since with Okotoks last season, whom I had listed on EP as "Fractured tibia/ankle, status uncertain (was to be back by November 24th)" is listed as resumed skating and to return in late January.
*LD/F #7 Mike Green, whom I had listed on EP as out with "Concussion, status uncertain (was expected back by November 21st-28th)" is also listed by Thibodeau as resumed skating and to return in late January.
*As I found out while checking out Trevor Howlett's recent tweets, I came across one saying that RD #21 Zach Wittenburg "gets an automatic one game suspension for being in the second fight during a stoppage on Jan 2." - which means he's out for tomorrow night, and back for the MOB's Sunday game on the 6th.

Whitecourt:
*Looks like Whitecourt lost a pretty good goalie, that probably with his earlier WHL #s this season, probably didn't even deserve the demotion. G #1 Jared Rathjen's parent club, the Victoria Royals, traded him to the Vancouver Giants - as earlier posted onto EP. He was also called up to play for the Giants, who also lost G Liam Liston to retirement over the holidays.

And this post is finally done! I hoped to have it posted a few hours ago... but oh well! Better late than never!
