AJHL update - Jan 22nd-23rd

A slow-er day than Friday & Saturday, but still 4 games/half the league playing. Since it doesn't make much sense to split posts with everything that I came to know about the Pontiacs and Storm lineups for these 2 days, while updating stats - Tuesday and Wednesday are getting combined.

Post is now complete... managed to stay awake long enough to complete it, and not start typing crazily again or have my vision go haywire in one eye already!

[Tuesday] Scores:
  1. Bonnyville beat the Storm 3-2 here in Grande Prairie. Was a fairly close tight game, especially for the first 2 periods overall. Was really rough in the first so and less so in the 2nd, and barely in the 3rd. 2-0  Pontiacs after 1, 2-2 after 2, then the 3rd period... Pontiacs outshot 13-4 but only outscored by one for the win.
  2. Bandits beat the Canucks 6-2 in Brooks. Another dominant game by the Bandits, shots and score. RW #8 Mark Reners & RW #19 Dakota Mason each with 3 points (both with 1G, 2As).
  3. Camrose beat the Mustangs 3-0 at the Father David Bauer Arena in NW Calgary. Dominant game by the Kodiaks, besides the 3rd period where the Mustangs outshot 13-4, but couldn't buy a goal. All 3 Kodiaks goals scored in the 2nd. Kodiaks G #35 Matthew Gibney with the shutout.
  4. Bobcats beat Sherwood Park 4-1 in Lloydminster. Fairly even in shots until the 3rd, with a 12-5 period by the Cru. Loads of penalties, especially in the 3rd... the summary there is like a mile long... hehe! Bobcats F #7 Nolan Yaremchuk with 3 points (2G, 1A).
Wednesday scores:
  1. Canmore beat the Dragons 5-1 in Drumheller. A very one sided game by... Drumheller, in shots. Not in score. Kind of a strange game in that regard. In other words - very rough game for Drumheller starter G #35 Adam Beukeboom, who allowed 5G on 18 shots, where as G #35 Ty Swabb on the other end, stopped 34 of 35. RW #17 Zack Rassell, with 3 points (1G, 2A).
  2. Bonnyville beat the Storm 5-1 here in Grande Prairie. Close game in shots, not in score. Was your average close game, barring the score, for most of the game... there were penalties, but nothing like the last 12 seconds of game time... that was insane... took me like half an hour to get the penalties straight and get them updated properly onto the game sheet... hehe! Strangely, no one for the Pontiacs had more than 2 points.

Changes:

Bonnyville:
*RW #12 Christian Nypower is up for and played last night & tonight, from the Cold Lake Ice (NEAJBHL).
*Cold Lake teammate RW #14 Thomas "T.J." Cunningham also up and played last night & tonight - a new AP/reserve listed. Cunningham, some AJHLer observers may remember, started the season with the Calgary Canucks playing 7 games, scoring 1 assist and adding 17 penalty minutes (as TJ Cunningham), on a now hidden AJHL profile separate from his current active one with the Pontiacs (as Thomas Cunningham). As far as what I've been able to find thus far and what Bonnyville play-by-play guy Robb Hunter (who's standing to my right as I update stats here for the Jan 23rd game in GP - I've kind of assumed the role of late) knows - Cunningham went directly to the Ice from the Canucks and played his first game for them Nov 28th, but if someone knows different feel free to drop me a line. Both Nypower & Cunningham will likely be back with the Ice for a game Friday.
*C #10 Marc Dubeau was/is sick & both games here in GP.
*C #18 Tommy Barszcz served the last game of his 2 game suspension and is in the lineup for today's game, Wednesday the 23rd, in the 2nd half of doubled header here in GP against the Storm.

Grande Prairie:
*C/RW #23 John Webb is up from Sexsmith Vipers (NWJHL) as I knew personally as I've seen him up in the booth here both nights.
*Captain RW #15 Taylor Cote as I've heard publicly and updated onto Storm AJ stats/roster - out for the season at least, with post-concussion symptoms.
*C #7 Sam Lawson, as according to what Jeff Henson said to Robb Hunter line on radio on the Kool FM Bonnyville broadcast, is out with his 3rd concussion of the season and is out indefinitely. Team is taking very cautious approach to his return, probably with thoughts of captain Cote's status on their minds pretty good.
*LD #4 Tyler Haiste left the game last night and went to hospital, and initially it sounded like a serious long term wrist injury. He ended up retweetingTerry Farrell (GP Daily Herald Tribune's sports reporter)'s tweet last night confirming the injury, though he also tweeted about it also from the hospital. As he said to Jeff in an intermission interview, and later confirmed to me himself - he's likely back in the lineup Saturday in Drayton Valley. I love being able to update injuries onto the Storm AJ stats/roster, not that I figured out how to - makes it look a bit better, and all I'm entering there is public knowledge also (if Jeff or Robb, for example, says it on air - it's public after all. I've still got to add guys with the "major junior" icon yet too).
*RW #16 Ryan Baskerville, took a bit of a slapshot in the mouth last night from teammate, assistant captain LD #3 Sasha Larocque. I was constantly hearing that he lost 3 teeth, but Terry Farrell (who took a chair between myself & Robb) assured me it was only 1 and that Basky tweeted a pic of it. True enough!
*C #18 Braeden Music returned from day-to-day back injury on Tuesday. He also originally wore #19 for the Storm, post-trade from Canmore.
*LW/C #27 Brett Printz, originally wore #18 when first acquired by Storm from Kindersley (SJHL).
*LW #24 Adam Boytinck left the game tonight with potential shoulder injury (according to what Jeff said on radio)... if not he could very well be suspended for a hit he made seemed to trigger the chaos that happened with 12 seconds left in the game tonight. In fact, after the game while talking with others within the organization, there's thought that the Storm could possibly have 3 guys suspended from what went on tonight... could be a very different lineup Saturday...
*D #25 Brandon Hodge, returned from Pneumonia, day-to-day, for game tonight.

Brooks:
*LW #37 Taylor Makin, returned from injury (Lower body injury suffered Jan 6th, expected back Jan 20th - Feb 3rd) last night.

Calgary Canucks:
*As expected, I got confirmation from G #1 Austin Hannaford's father that he's back in Calgary and should be in the lineup for their next game Friday night, with the CNHA Blazers Midget AAs (HCMAA).
*LD/F #5 Evan Reid made his AJHL debut for the Canucks last night/Tuesday, up from the Calgary Royals Midget AAAs (AMHL). He'll likely be back in the lineup next for the Royals on Feb 1st.
*More recent G #1 Cody Befus (presumably a 4th/5th/6th stringer), was the back up on Tuesday night. He'll likely be back for them on Friday's game.

Lloydminster:
*LD #27 Linden Springer was back in the lineup last night, from suspension (2 game suspension as a result of being assessed a major penalty for hitting from behind, eligible to return Jan 22nd).

Sherwood Park:
*Callup LW #25 Bryce Woodward played Tuesday night, but will likely be bac k to his Lloydminster Bobcats Midget AAA game in Tuesday night.

Canmore:
*LW/D #7 Colton Sandboe was up playing last night, from Grande Prairie Storm Midget AAAs (AMHL). He will likely be back with this Storm team, for their next game Feb 2nd.
*As far as I know former #7 LW Carter Jensen, has not been with his CalJHL Jr.B team., as he did not show on tonight's game sheet for the Jr. B CRAA Gold game.
*RW #16 Dylan Houston was back up in the Eagles lineup, up from the Three Hills Thrashers (HJHL). He will likely by back for the Thrashers game on Saturday.

Drumheller - no changes I'm aware of... which usually means they're healthy.
