AJHL score from tonight & changes/moves - Dec 13th

Only 1 AJHL game tonight and it was something else!

Oilers beat Calgary Canucks 7-1, at the Pason Centennial Arena in Okotoks.

As I first find out on the AJHL forum from a post about it by pabloamigo:

How do the Canucks just dress 14 guys?? What a joke of an organization.

There are AP's for a reason, it actually is a pretty good recruiting tool as well.

To which I replied:
Holy crap... and I thought you were just kidding or messing around until I looked... very sad situation there! I could see if all their listed/AP guys were playing elsewhere tonight (midget AAA, minor midget AAA, Jr B, etc) ... but come on, they should be able to find more guys willing to play from somewhere. Heck, if the Saints have a whole 'team' worth of listed players/APs (if anyone is not aware of this:http://ajhl.ca/statistics/north_divsion ... aints.html - then check/click their reserve roster... seriously, they do have a full team of listed players - hehe! :D ... from their earlier season injury chaos...) - what in the heck was preventing the Calgary Canucks from doing the same thing hey?

Geez... 14 skaters - I guess if it's any consolation, at least they had 2 healthy (as least as far as I know backup Guglielmin is healthy) goalies. I've seen and heard of skaters having to dress as backups before and even get in game action as well (http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/jrhock ... 15418.html)... hehe! I'm pretty sure it happened in a Jr A game in the last few seasons as well.

Some real problems for the Calgary Canucks these days, due mainly to their 'injury plague'... but, now that I think about this though... I have to wonder if maybe the Canucks did have APs up that just weren't added to the game sheet/AJHL profiles, by the Canucks stats updater(s)... just a theory of course, but considering what happened with the Wolverines roster on the game sheet the other night - it's a definite possibility.

But as for the game... unfortunately for the Canucks, it resembled their game against Brooks the other day fairly well, by the game sheet. Brooks scored 6 more goals that night mind you, in the highest goal output in the AJHL by far since I started this blog; but heck, the shots were just about the same in that game as this one. Brooks outshot them 39-13 that night, and tonight there were outshot 41-16 by Okotoks. I'm honestly semi-baffled by their 3rd period... with 14 skaters, they were only outshot 10-5 (best period of the game, in comparison to the Oilers' output) and allowed only 2 more goals - would figure they'd be dead, dog tired, by probably definitely being double and possibly triple shifted. LW #24 Mitch Amatto (2G, 1A - anyone know if he is brother of former NWCAA Stampeders Jr B (CalJHL) player Jordan Amatto, who I just became aware of?), C #9 Spencer Kryczka (1G, 2A), and C #26 Braeden Salverda (3A), all with 3 points for the Oilers.

Moves:
Also to back up what I heard during the GP Storm radio broadcast of the game in/against Whitecourt, numerous times referred to by Jeff Henson, and what I posted about on blog post during game that night - Whitecourt did infact acquire a 'new d-man from the Q' per say. Jeff didn't say then per say, as far as I remember, that the guy was coming directly from the Q though. The guy coming in is RD/F Michael Claffey. I just archived in a couples of moves on him on EP (I kind of try and add in/archive in all Jr level moves I can on EP, to develop a player history/transaction archive, since the site started storing old transfers in the last season I believe), including him becoming listed/AP-ed again this season by Drayton Valley (while with the Spruce Grove Regals of the CapJHL - Capital Jr HL Jr B) after the same had happened last season prior to his camp release the OHL's Peterborough Petes, after he was added to their pre-season camp - and before that he was playing Spruce Grove (AJHL version) after being with the QMJHL's Shawinigan Cataractes (2009 - early of 11/12 season). Things were a little buggered up in the transactions history, so I've since edited things a bit to hopefully make it all look right.

Okay... along with Claffey's addition, the Wolverines also traded captain C #16 Jamie Johnson (strangely they didn't mention anyone was traded away in their media release - and spelled Claffey wrong... hehe - geez guys, should know how to spell your own players names! hehe! ;) only joking/bugging of course) for SJHL's Melville Millionaires D Landon Hall (who was listed in above Wolverines media release). Hall by the way, was born in Stony Plain from what I previously gathered while he was briefly with the Grande Prairie Storm in the September 2010's preseason schedule. I first found out about Claffey/Hall in a repost of the Wolverines media release on the AJHL forum, by canuck88 earlier; and only found out about Johnson being traded away from a Gino De Paoli (Okotoks play-by-play) tweet. As I've said in the past on the AJHL forum, "Play-by-play guys are like 'AJHL gods' in my books", for their close to 100% accuracy. He tweeted prior to that Johnson was apparently released, according to what he was seeing on social media. Regardless of what fully transpired - Whitecourt gains D's Claffey & Hall and traded Johnson to Melville.

Okay, now onto finally updating the stats onto EP from tonight's game, and any possible moves that are so far confirmed (speaking of the theory I mentioned above, about the Canucks roster from tonight - as the erroneous Wolverines one the other day was later updated a few times). To also back that above theory of mine a small bit - not one single AP currently listed (all are listed on the reserve roster, current screenshot below), was listed on the current game sheet roster for the Canucks (also screenshot below).
Kind of makes a person wonder, as almost all the AMHL games are played Friday-Sunday, therefore many if not all of these APs should have been available.

Have also tweeted the Calgary Canucks to see if I can get some sort of confirmation one way or another. If they really did only dress 14 skaters though... a person almost have to wonder if they're already given up on the season. Sure, they hold a 2pt lead on 8th place Canmore, but Canmore has 3 games in hand. Sounds funny I know, and I hope it's not true, but who knows...

Haha... who'd have thought this blog post, for really a 1 game night, could have 4 parts to it... but oh well, it happened...

Roster changes from the game:

Calgary Canucks:
*LW #11 Devon Westby, though still listed with the injury 'red cross' on the Canucks current roster, and listed on the first of the 2 screenshots - Westby did play tonight, so is back from injury to me, from a day-to-day knee injury .
*Though I only noticed it while 'sifting through the Canucks current AJHL stats/roster on the AJ site after updating stats onto EP (I do this every single night, for every single team in action due to players 'appearing' or 'disappearing' from the stats/roster at will... one of the drawback of the Esportsdesk site, along with the inter-league trades)... D #10 Alex Marcinew also was in the game tonight and is also still listed on the AJ Canucks page with the 'red cross', back from a day-to-day knee injury.
*Of the APs I last had on the roster (as they haven't played another game elsewhere yet)... D #3 Zach Dietrich & RD #6 Deryk Sutherland's Calgary Northstars Midget AAA (AMHL) team is off from Sunday - Friday so they theoretically coulda/shoulda played tonight.
*RW #24 Alexander Mowbray & LW #3 Jack Berezan played Wednesday night for the Calgary Buffaloes Midget AAA (AMHL) so they're both back down, but again theoretically coulda/shoulda played tonight as they Buffaloes are off from Wednesday-Sunday. There's 4 guys alone that would complete the 18 man skater roster for the Canucks tonight... got to wonder about this.

Okotoks:
*LD #3 Kyle Krabben played last night as well, back from 'Upper body injury, status uncertain' as I had on EP, though still listed with a 'red cross' on the AJHL Oilers stats/roster

Confirmed/known injury changes (full list for standings and injuries here - and yes, as I mentioned before - I do know our map is out of date. Have emailed our photo staff about it numerous times to get updated ASAP, and messaged again about it and a few other things last night. They seem as bad, or even more backed up than me... currently 1,865 unread now, but I actually know people worse than that somehow... haha!):

Teams that either definitely don't, or appear not to (or are miraculously 100% healthy all the time... haha!), list injuries on AJHL site: Calgary Mustangs, Camrose, Drayton Valley (their injury I heard on Storm broadcast), Drumheller, Grande Prairie (definitely don't - those listed I know of personally or through close sources - like billets), Lloydminster (heard some on Storm broadcast, before), Olds, Whitecourt (once found out of one through a friend/forum source, and it never got listed on Wolverines roster either). Yikes, half the league... didn't think there were that many teams that didn't list/inform of injuries!

Calgary Canucks, were mentioned above - still though, at 7 confirmed out

Canmore - 6 still out

Fort McMurray:
*Not really a change, but the next MOB game tomorrow night will be after the 4-6 week range for return for LD #4 captain Brock Maschmeyer's from fractured/broken thumb injury. Same is the case for LW/C #20 Justin Fraser's fractured/broken jaw (excited expected out for 6 weeks). Yikes... LD/F #7 Mike Green (Concussion, expected back Nov 21st-28th) & C #11 Harrison Hendrix (Knee strain, expected back Nov 30th) are both a half month overdue. #-less D Jordan Clark overdue on Fractured tibia/ankle injury, status uncertain (was to be back by November 24th) - as I already noticed him overdue prior to this check. Not good for the Oil Barons...

Spruce Grove:
*Not a change really, but C #10 Sammy Spurrell (who is on my massive growing list of guys I need to look up earlier bntm/mdgt stats for... seriously, it's taking up most of the front on an envelope on my desk here... haha!) was supposed to be back by Dec 8th (Listed as out with upper body injury, expected back in 3 weeks)... still hasn't returned. So I updated him to "status uncertain".

And, now finally done with the AJHL tonight... geez, I got to find a way to get this totally finished earlier/quicker than 6am! Haha!
